World's largest fashion show takes place in Paris
More than 500 models for a day broke the world record for the largest fashion show ever in an open-air event along one of the French capital's main shopping boulevards.
Scrutineers from the Guinness Book of Records were on hand to certify the show as the biggest ever and traffic on the major Boulevard Hausmann ground to a standstill as rush-hour commuters tried to catch a glimpse of the event, staged by a large French department store. Taking street-cred to the catwalk, models of all walks of life pounded the stage in the shadow of the Paris Opera, for centuries home to a different kind of show. "We set this up because we represent living fashion and I think that today it's the street that inspires fashion. And we wanted to pay tribute to all our clients who have a great talent. I don't know if you've seen it tonight," said Anne-Marie Gaultier from Galeries Lafayette. The wannabe-models had been selected from thousands of applicants who submitted their pictures online to take part in the event and shortlisted candidates were invited to Paris to strut their stuff.
