Disaster for Australia’s Next Top Model as wrong winner announced

An Australian modeling competition has been branded a "disaster" and an "epic fail" after the host told one finalist that she had won the contest on live television, before realizing that she had announced the wrong name.
The live final episode of Australia's Next Top Model ended in chaos after host Sarah Murdoch named 19-year-old Kelsey Martinovich the winner of season six of the Fox Television reality show. Minutes later, while Martinovich was jumping around the stage with glee and thanking her friends and family for their support, Murdoch realized her mistake. Clearly distressed by the error, she made an awkward apology and named 18-year-old Amanda Ware as the winner.
"Oh my God, I don't know what to say right now," Murdoch said, in front of a crowd of 2,000 people at Sydney's Luna Park. "I'm feeling a bit sick about this. I'm so sorry about this, oh my God. I don't know what to say. This is a complete accident, I'm so sorry. It's Amanda... it was read to me wrong.
"This is what happens when you have live TV folks, I'm so sorry, this is insane." Murdoch, a former model who is married to Rupert Murdoch's son Lachlan, said the mistake occurred after the wrong name was fed to her earpiece. Martinovich was a good sport, hugging Ware and dismissing Murdoch's apologies. "You won it's fine...it's ok, it's ok, it's an honest mistake, it's fine," she told Ware.
The prize for the competition was a shoot and Harpers Bazaar cover, a modelling contract, a $25,000 (£15,000) campaign with Levis, a car, $20,000 cash and a trip to New York.
In an attempt to compensate Martinovich for the blunder, Fox said that the runner up will get $20,000 (£12,000) and a trip to New York.
